The Gallet Adanac Navigator was supplied to the US Government across a number of contracts, with watches issued in 1986 and 1988. This example was issued in February 1986, as marked on the case back.

The Adanac (and the subsequent Marathon Navigators) were the successor to the Benrus Type I and Type II divers watches, and share some of the same heritage, with the same asymmetric case and rotating bezel.

The Adanac was manufactured by the Swiss firm Gallet for the Canadian Marathon Watch Company who supplied the watch to the US Government using the brand name 'Adanac'. As many will know (or will have worked out) this is Canada spelt backwards. What you may not know is that this is also the name of street where Marathon had their offices in Toronto.

The Adanac has a serviceable Harley Ronda 373 quartz movement, bidirectional rotating GMT bezel, and painted lume plots on the dial and hands, along with screwdown crown, snap case back and removable battery hatch.

This example is has been fully serviced in our workshop and is in very good condition all round, as detailed in the condition report, and is supplied on the original black US Government issue single pass nylon strap.

The watch case is in good, clean cosmetic condition with some marks and small knocks from use. The case back has some minor marks and strap burn. The dial and hands are excellent with nicely aged tritium lume. The crystal is in very good condition. The bezel insert is unmarked. Please refer to the images to make your own judgement about the condition of the watch.

Mechanically the watch was serviced in March 2026.

During the service the watch was fully stripped. The case parts were ultrasonically cleaned, with new battery hatch and back gasket fitted. The movement parts were mechanically and ultrasonically cleaned in waterless solutions and hot air dried. The movement was rebuilt, lubricated and regulated, with new 395 battery fitted. The original crystal was polished and is in good condition.

The bi-directional bezel was cleaned and refitted during servicing and operates correctly. The action is quite stiff but there is no looseness or play, which is quite common. The crown screws down tightly. Time adjust and hacking seconds work correctly with the crown unscrewed and pulled out.

The watch has been fully tested and on the bench is running at +0.01 seconds per day, equivalent to +0.31 seconds per month. Note that accuracy in use may differ from this figure.

All round an very good, fully sorted example, supplied the original black nylon US government issued strap, in nicely used condition.

The watch is absolutely suitable for everyday use, but it is vintage watch so is not recommended for sports or use in extreme conditions. The watch has not been pressure tested so water resistance is not guaranteed. This watch is covered by our waterproof 6 month guarantee.
