CWC G10 watches were issued in a series of variants, from 1980 to 2006.
In 1997 there was one contract for CWC G10s, of around 5320 watches and they were procured under an Army contract, with the watches marked with the W10 service code. However there are some variations in the case back markings and the earlier watches issued - like this one - were apparently taken from civilian stock and the pheon, service code, serial number and year of issue were engraved on the case back rather than factory stamped, with the W10 service code being added between the battery hatch and the NATO stock number. This has been dubbed by cwcaddict.com as the 'floating W10' variant.
The G10 is a classic of the military watch genre, and a popular choice with collectors, combining affordability, reliability, accuracy, ease of maintenance and, of course, they look great!
The watch is in fantastic - apparently unworn/unused condition, as described in the condition report. It has been recently been serviced and is supplied on a new black ribbed NATO strap.
The watch is in apparently unworn/unissued condition and case and back are very clean and with only some very minor marks from use/storage - overall they are in near mint condition. The case back has the correct markings including the W10 Army service code, NATO stock number, serial number and issue year, and as explained in the overview, the markings are engraved, not stamped, with the 'floating W10' marking. The crystal is a flat profile replacement with matte tension ring fitted. The dial and hands are in mint condition. Please refer to the images to make your own judgement about the cosmetic condition of the watch. The images form an important part of the description.
The watch was subject to a full stripdown, clean and service in October 2025. The case parts were stripped and ultrasonically cleaned and the original ETA 955.102 movement was serviced.
The movement was fully stripped, mechanically and ultrasonically cleaned using waterless solutions and hot air dried. The movement was rebuilt and lubricated using Moebius oils. Images of the movement rebuild are included in the listing. The watch hacks and sets from the crown correctly. All the seals were also replaced and greased, including the back gasket, the battery hatch and crown gaskets.
The watch is absolutely suitable for everyday use, but it is vintage watch so is not recommended for sports or use in extreme conditions. The watch has not been pressure tested so water resistance is not guaranteed. This watch is covered by our waterproof 6 month guarantee.
