Crown for Vietnam-era Benrus DTU-2A/P, Hamilton/Benrus GG-W-113 WITH outer stem
Supplied without dimple unless requested
£46.00
The Benrus DTU-2A/P is a 'front-loader' with split stem to allow removal of the movement through the front of the watch, with an inner stem locked into the movement and the outer stem with crown attached, fitting through the stem tube and clicking onto the inner stem.
The split stem arrangement is a weak point in the design, and when the click-joint between the inner and outer stem wears or corrodes, the outer stem can unintentionally separate from the inner stem resulting in the loss of the outer stem and crown.
As a result over the years, many DTUs have lost their original crowns, which are either missing or have been replaced with crowns of a different design.
The original crowns are almost impossible to source, so we have had crowns remanufactured in Switzerland, using an original 1965 Benrus DTU crown as the pattern. The crowns are excellent quality stainless steel with inner gasket, made to the same dimensions and specification as the original crowns.
These crowns are the closest available replacement for the original crowns and nobody else had these crowns - you can only get them here!
This listing includes an new outer stem. You will need to contact us to specify whether you require a male or female outer stem, as these vary depending on the watch.
The crown was made specifically for the Benrus DTU-2A/P but is also suitable for use with the Benrus GG-W-113 which is the same design and suffers from the same split-stem issues.
The crown is also a suitable substitute/replacement from the Hamilton GG-W-113, but will require a female outer stem. The crown will also fit the plastic case Benrus Mil-W-46374, although the crown is slightly less deep than the original crowns for these watches.
