MoD 'process timer' darkroom clock

This one is a really interesting and unusual piece!

The Ministry of Defence had all kinds of environments where it was necessary to time processes. Think about all the darkrooms - probably one on every RAF airfield, maybe in many operational Naval vessels, in labs and workshops....

....and they would need a timer to time those processes - cue the Rotherhams process timer clock. Rotherhams are an old clock manufacturers who were on their last gasp before World War 2 and then experienced a revival producing instruments for wartime use. After the war they went into decline again and eventually disappeared altogether, but not before supplying these lovely timer clocks to the Ministry of Defence in the 1950s. 

The clock has a matt black crackle finish case with a chrome bezel around the glass, and a big chrome knob to set the timer. The dial is off-white with the Rotherhams signature, a pheon, a 5-minute scale and is also marked 'Made in England'. There is some kind of manufacturers mark on the back of the case.

To operate, just turn the chromed knob to the desired time and the times starts running with a very satisfying 'tick-tock'. When it reaches zero it rings a bell!

The clock is in working order and cosmetic condition is excellent, as described in the condition report.
