Projects: Seiko 7A28-7040 'Speedmaster'

Another stunning and popular 7A28 variation, the diver-style 7040 (7049 in the USA) has a black dial similar to the military issue Seiko Gen 1, sandblasted case and stainless bracelet, and rotating bezel.

There is a military connection with the 7A28-7040 as it was issued to the South African Air Force.

Servicing is the same as for any 7A28, and this example was given the usual treatment, with the case parts and pushers stripped and ultrasonically cleaned. The movement was fully stripped, cleaned and serviced. A new bezel gasket was fitted, along with pusher, stem and back gaskets.

Cosmetic condition was very good indeed, with just minor marks from use/storage.
