Projects: 1969 Omega Seamaster 300 165.024

This Seamaster SM300 was a personal project. The watch was purchased at auction and described as 'ticking', but on arrival it was very definitely not ticking. The lovely cal 525 movement was thoroughly gummed up so I serviced it straight away. I did not have the correct mainspring in stock and was too impatient to order a new one, so I serviced the old mainspring, which did drop the amplitude a bit over a new one, but still acceptable. The case was ultrasonically cleaned and the original crystal - which has some stress cracks - was polished. The movement was given a rough regulation just so I could get the watch on my wrist, and over a period of months it gains a little but no more than a few seconds per day. The original bracelet, which was caked in dirt and DNA was ultrasonically cleaned and came up very nicely, but I decided, for the time being, to fit a James Bond NATO, and I can always refit the bracelet later. It's got great patina and it a totally practical, reliable and accurate tool watch, and I have to say, one of my favourite watches ever!
